Jason Lewis started Diversified Tree Company to do the jobs other crews talk their way out of — storm-torn oaks leaning over a roofline, century maples too close to the house for a straight drop. He still runs the saw. When a Comstock Park homeowner calls, they get the owner, not a dispatcher selling the job to whoever's free. Ten-plus years in, the company is still family-owned, still Black-owned, and still working out of the same yard on Paris Avenue in south Grand Rapids.
Comstock Park sits north of the city along the Grand River, and the tree stock shows it — big silver maples in the older neighborhoods, ash and oak backing up to the floodplain, and a lot of mature canopy hanging directly over garages and driveways. That's the work this crew does every week, with behind the ropes and rigging.

When we say 24/7, we mean the phone gets answered at 3 a.m. on Christmas. Storm response is a core service here, not an upsell we bolt on when the wind picks up. From the Paris Ave SE yard, most of the metro — Comstock Park included — is about 20 minutes away in normal conditions. If a limb is sitting on your roof at midnight, that matters more than anything else on this page.

We'll also tell you when you don't need us. If a tree can be pruned instead of removed, we'll say so. One thing we won't do is top a tree: topping creates weakly attached regrowth that fails in the next storm and shortens the tree's life.

- Emergency Tree Service — fallen trees, blocked driveways and roof-threatening limbs, with help documenting the insurance claim.
- Lot Clearing — full-lot or partial clearing for construction, expansion or overgrowth, with debris responsibly disposed.
- Bracing & Cabling — structural support that preserves valuable, split-prone trees instead of removing them.
- Firewood — seasoned hardwood, pickup at our Paris Ave yard or delivered. Call for current stock and pricing.
- Snow Plowing — seasonal residential and commercial plowing for driveways, lots and walkways all winter.
- Curbside Leaf Pickup — rake it to the curb in loose piles and we collect and haul it away.
