Straight answer: we don't offer deep root fertilization
If you landed here looking for someone to inject fertilizer into the root zone of your maple, we're not that company — and we'd rather tell you now than sell you something we don't do. Diversified Tree Company LLC is an owner-operated, family-focused, Black-owned tree crew working out of a yard on Paris Avenue in south Grand Rapids. Jason Lewis runs it. What we do is cutting, climbing, rigging, grinding and hauling — the physical side of tree care. Soil injection isn't part of our equipment list, so it isn't part of our pitch.
We've been at this for over ten years, with between us. A decade in, you learn that the fastest way to lose a neighbor's trust is to say yes to work you're not set up to do well. So here's what we can help with, and what to do instead if fertilization really is what your tree needs.
Nine services, one crew
This is the whole list. Nothing hiding behind a "and more" — if it's not here, we don't sell it.

- Tree Trimming & Pruning — canopy health, storm-risk reduction, and clearance from rooflines and power lines.
- Stump Grinding — ground below grade, chips hauled, the spot left replant-ready.
- Emergency Tree Service — 24/7 storm response for fallen trees, blocked driveways and roof-threatening limbs, with insurance-claim documentation.
- Lot Clearing — full-lot or partial clearing for construction, expansion or overgrowth, with debris responsibly disposed of.
- Bracing & Cabling — structural support that preserves valuable, split-prone trees instead of removing them.
- Firewood — seasoned hardwood, pickup at the Paris Ave yard or delivered. Call for current stock and pricing.
- Snow Plowing — seasonal residential and commercial plowing for driveways, lots and walkways.
- Curbside Leaf Pickup — rake it to the curb in loose piles and we collect and haul it away. No bags needed; bags actually slow the crew down.
What we actually do when a tree looks rough
Plenty of trees that get sold a fertilization program don't have a nutrition problem. They have a structure problem, a storm-damage problem, or a limb hanging over a bedroom. Those we can fix.
If a big oak or century maple has a split union you're worried about, bracing and cabling is the honest alternative to removal — steel support across the weak point so the tree keeps standing. No honest arborist guarantees a tree, and we won't either. Support dramatically reduces the risk of union failure; it doesn't make a tree immortal.
If the canopy is crowded, rubbing or sitting on your roof, pruning does more for tree health than anything you can pour on the ground. Late winter — February into March — is the window for most Michigan species. Oaks get pruned in dormancy only, to avoid oak wilt. And we won't top a tree, ever. Topping creates weakly attached regrowth that fails in the next storm and shortens the tree's life.
If the tree is already gone past saving, removal plus grinding is the clean finish. We grind 6 to 12 inches below grade as standard — enough for lawn — and deeper on request. You can keep the wood, too: we'll buck the trunk to firewood length and stack it wherever you want at no extra charge, or haul it off.

That's not a slogan. The phone is answered at three in the morning on Christmas, because storm response is a core service here, not an upsell. From the Paris Ave SE yard, most of the metro is within about 20 minutes in normal conditions — Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Grandville, Byron Center, Caledonia, Moline, Jenison, Hudsonville, Dorr, Ada, Wayland, Alto, Marne and Comstock Park.
